Christmas Recap...This Is Going To Be A Long One...Minus SpellCheck

Merry "belated" Christmas....And Happy New Year 2011!

Brought To You By Gabby's Brand New Art Easel
(thank you Grammy)
I noticed the last post on the blog was December 15th.  Geez...it feels like a whole year of events has been crammed into the 13 days since that last post.  So let's catch up...

Visiting Santa
We went to see Santa Claus at Bass Pro Shops.  Gabby was not too keen about sitting on his lap(after we waited in a huge line to see him), however, after I bent down to her level and "politely"(not really)said, "Go Tell Him What You Want For Christmas"...

she did it...
Gabby with Santa
2011
Gabby asked Santa what kind of cookies he liked. He answered Chocolate Chip.  Then, she decided to ask him if the reindeer liked carrots which I thought was very cute!  She told Santa this year that she would like a Barbie car, a heart box and popcorn...hee hee!

We love taking Gabby to Bass Pro to see Santa because they have so many different activities that the kids and parents can do together.
Gabby was mesmerized by the train.
She watched it for a very long time!

Gabby and Daddy target practicing.
He is making a tomboy out of her more and more every day!

They raced monster trucks in the dirt

Mommy and Gabby watched the fish in the HUGE aquarium from the balcony

Gabby colored winter scenes at the coloring table that was set up for the children.

Christmas Lights
We also visited Deming Park in Terre Haute.  They turn the entire park into a winter wonderland complete with lights that are synchronized to music on a local radio station that you can tune into.  Each shelter house is decorated in themes too which is really neat to see!
Gabby Loved the lights.
We made two trips around the park which made her Super happy!

The light show that follows the beat and tune to the local radio station.
It really was neat to see!

I was super pumped as you can see!
:)
Winter Snow
We got quite a bit of snow in December.  Gabby and Daddy enjoyed it!  Gabby enjoyed playing in it and Daddy "not so much" enjoyed shoveling a little of it and mostly snow blowing the rest...

Gabby watching Daddy plow the driveway...

Look at that snow blower...
Thanks to our neighbors...Jeff still has a back that semi works!

She wanted to help SO bad...

Christmas At The Zoo...
We had a great time at the Zoo this year!  We have had a zoo pass for three years and this is the first time we have managed to make it to Christmas At The Zoo.  Very cool!  I loved all the lights.  We rode the train, decorated cookies, watched a 3D clip of Polar Express, went to the dolphin show(where Gabby wanted to sit in the Splash Zone...and yes we got wet in December...eek) and of course visited the Penguins.  Grampy went with us and we had a ball!  It was cold, but not bitter cold like it has been here lately.  What a great time!

Keating Christmas Party
Our Annual Keating Family Christmas Party was fun as always!  Gabby was an Angel again for the second year in a row.  However, the Underhill family is in charge of it next year, and I've got dibs on Gabby being Mary :).  We enjoyed seeing our family that grows each year.  Hence the reason we have to have this party at a clubhouse!  I love it though and wouldn't change anything about it!

Our Little Angel

Santa Came!!!
Gabby got Cheerleader Barbie Dolls from Santa!

Christmas Eve...Chamness Style!
After Christmas Eve Mass, we headed over to MaMa and Grandad's for Christmas Eve dinner and presents!  Each year the place settings are different and LOVE to see each year what new ideas MaMa is going to come up with.  Grandad decorated the cookies, but look how cute these are...
Gabby got a bunch of awesome presents!  MaMa recorded her voice reading "Twas The Night Before Christmas" in a book.  Gabby absolutely adores this book and it sits right by her bed in her room.  She listens to it at least three times a day and her most favorite part is not even a part of the story.  It is when MaMa adds at the end, "goodnight Gabby...MaMa and Grandad  Love You"!  She Loves It!  We are so blessed!  The dinner was great and just spending time together as a family was even better!  Rumor has it that the Chamness Family are all headin' South next year for Christmas 2011...Yippee if so!!

We set out Cookies and Milk for Santa...Oh and let's not forget the Carrots and Food for the Reindeer!

Cookies and Milk for Santa on the same plate I used as a child!

Christmas Morning!
We had to wake Gabby up...which was a little different for me.  She got up at 9am and had to sit up and think for a minute before realizing that it was Christmas!  She started to race down the hallway and stopped and said, "mommy hold me".  I think she thought Santa was going to be there...like he stopped at our house last and a crashed or something.  Gabby got everything she asked for nonetheless!

Christmas...Underhill Style!

Grammy, Grampy and Uncle Nick came over mid morning for breakfast and More Presents!  At the end of the day, Gabby said(and I quote), "I am tired of opening up presents".  Are you kidding me?  What child is tired of opening presents?!  Gabby was a little overwhelmed we think...  We still had a great time.  Grammy loved her new coffee maker.  Uncle Nick wears sweatshirts all the time and loved his new North Face.  Grampy's jacket and gloves will come in handy on his school bus come January 2011!  Gabby fell fast asleep once everyone left...  I am thankful that we were all together under the same roof at the same time this Christmas!  I hope it can be like this every year!

Jasper!
Gabby came down with a little stomach flu on Christmas night.  I was a little hesitant to travel to Jasper to see my mom's side of the family.  However, in the end, I am glad we went.  Gabby was just not herself as you can tell in the pictures.  I am really glad we got to see my Cousins and Aunt and Uncle.  Mom was there too...don't want to leave her out!  We got some great pictures of the group minus Uncle Nick.  Maybe he will be able to make it next year?  We just made a day trip out of it and were home around 8:30pm.  Gabby was all better the next morning so the stomach virus only last 24 hours...yee haw!

Aunt Di, Grammy and their little 'babies'

The Brandes grandchildren minus Kayla (who was on her way)

Happy Birthday Baby Jesus

All of the Cousins

Success!  2010 Christmas Season Complete!

Schwoo...that was one heck of a busy month!  I am excited to get my house back to normal(well as normal as it can be with a three year old) and organize toys!  That is a Huge job that I have cut out for myself!

Thanks for checking in on us.  One of my new years resolutions is to update the blog more often and nap less in the afternoons.  Ha!  Here's to hoping that I can accomplish this!

Oh...let's not forget about our Indianapolis Colts.  We played at home in December a couple of times.  Here's to hoping that we beat the Tennessee Titans so that we can make the Playoffs....HOLLA!

I remember when my kids use to say they were tired of opening presents. That was when we did 4 houses on Christmas day, one on Christmas Eve and one the day after Christmas. Things have slowed down some and their presents are more expensive now, so they don't get as many. I miss when they were little.
