I had been waiting for this nasty, horrible, flu virus that I have read and read about on my favorite blogs to hit our home. Well, it has hit the Chamness household! I literally would get through a day last week and think, "wow...we made it another day without this flu thing"! It started in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Let me preface this story by saying that Gabby was acting a little unusual Saturday night. Doing things like going up to Grandma and staring at her like she was an alien or something, being "not so nice" to Aunt Amy and super quiet when we got home! About 2:30a Sunday morning, I heard her getting sick in her crib and Jeff and I both "hightailed" it into her room to help her! IT(this will be my special code word for "vomit" just so everyone knows) was EVERYWHERE! Seriously, the walls, floor, the crib, bumper pad, on me...EVERYWHERE! Gabby continued into the morning to do IT about every half an hour. I slept on her floor in her bedroom all night just so she knew that mommy was there for her! I have this funny "phobia" that my children are going to think that I was never there for them when they grow up. I know it is silly, but I just feel like that for some reason. So, I smother Gabby like crazy and make her run away from me :-) Anyways, I had to help her at least 3 times in the middle of the night. She did pretty well on Sunday during the day except for not wanting to eat much. We finally got her to eat saltine crackers and raisins. Yes, raisins...probably not the best for her when she has the flu, but when this is the only thing that she will eat I am not complaining. Just when we thought we were over the flu last night, Gabby did IT again. This time all over the living room floor. I was throwing towels at her feet to block the vomit and to give her something to do IT on. Probably not the "mommyiest" thing to do, but heck I did not know what to do! IT was going all over! After we got the carpet bissel'd and all was safe and sound Gabby finally went to sleep. She got up about 3am this morning and drank Pedialyte...wahoo, but we both ended up wearing IT all over us again. Note to self...next time, do not let a 1 year old fight me and win over Pedialyte and want to drink it too fast! Little sips from now on and back to sleep. Today, she has a high fever and her ears and bright red and warm. Sooooo, off to the doctor we go in about 15 minutes. At the moment all is content as Gabby is sleeping on Jeff in the LazyBoy. Aaaaahhh Yahhhh Yahhhh...to all of my mommy friends out there who have had this in their homes and gotten thru it...YOU ARE AMAZING! I am struggling to get through this with one child and I know that one of my friends on here has had to go through this with four of her own. You gals are my heroes! I will keep everyone updated! Poor Gabby!
