Gabby Was The "Star" Of The Play!

Last night, we traveled(in the horrible icy weather conditions)to our annual Keating Family Christmas Party! At this point, as I sit and reminisce about last night's events, I feel like a very crazy, frazzled, unorganized mother. It started out with "whinola" (aka...Gabby) in a bad mood. After a snack and some juice, she was good to go. Although, changing her into her outfit was not so fun. She likes to take things on her changing table and throw them at me now. Last night, it was the tube of diaper cream. Hey...I have the red bump on my forehead as proof. Next it was the driving conditions. Jeff was not so happy when he had to pour De-Icer down the driveway just to get Gabby and I into the car. We took the Explorer instead of the car to be on the safe side. Hmmm..did not work! We slip and slode? all the way to the party. We arrived an hour late just as the food was being served. Next, we hurried up and ate. More Mac and Cheese, ham and bread for Gabby..don't forget juice. At this point, Gabby saw that the big kids were having more fun playing in the other room and she wanted to join them. They were playing Duck-Duck-Goose and Gabby was not going to miss out on this! She even took off her black patten leather shoes and all to run with them. Too bad she was running the wrong way and I was scared to death as I began running right along with them to protect Gabby. Next it was time for the Christmas Play. Gabby was the star...literally! Now, a bunch of family members in the past have purchased a star balloon or star hat for their child to wear in the play. Not us...dad decided he was going to make the star for Gabby this year. He traced the star from our front porch and wrapped it with aluminum foil and all. Grandma Doris sewed the velcro arms on with dental floss and away she went. It was pretty cute and the video of the play is priceless. Thank goodness for Baby Jesus in the carseat. Gabby adored her and poked at her the entire play! I apologized up and down to the mom of Baby Jesus for that because we all know how I would have been if that were my infant! Santa came to the party after the play and gave out presents to the children. All in all, it was a fun night and we all had a good time with family!

Now, I feel forced to stop and think at this point. I know that I may have felt like a crazy, frazzled and unorganized mother last night, but all of this is not important. Let us remember our blessings this Christmas season and thank God above for our wonderful miracles in our lives. These people are the ones that help us create memories that will last a lifetime. I am so thankful for my wonderful family and friends. Thank you God for our health and happiness! Merry Christmas and Have A Happy New 2009 Year!
